Let’s Start with a Short Pep-Talk

All parents are busy. It’s a fact, not a judgment. So, where do we go from here? A couple of mindset hacks to keep it in perspective.

First, remember what you are up against. And I don’t mean in an us vs. them way, but in a one against many.

When scheduling anything, but especially for kids, whether that’s summer camps, school field trips, sports leagues, or the myriad of activities that are essential for a brief time, it’s tempting to feel stressed and urgent because there’s seemingly a very short window when the event is open to book before it’s sold out. But that’s a marketing tactic based on scarcity. Remind yourself that you are paying for it, and you get a say in what and how much they do.

Don’t let someone else or collective contagious FOMO influence your priorities. Keep in mind that there are many options, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Try to remember that there’s usually a groundswell of momentum around cheap, easy, and…
