Forget 50/50: How to Balance Life and Work (When You Feel Like You Can’t)
Real Balance is Empowering, Not Restrictive; It’s Called Thriving Momentum
The Big Question
This week on LinkedIn, I saw a question that stopped my scroll and the responses it elicited inspired this post. I’ve been thinking about my brand of balance, and seeing the wisdom, frustration, vulnerability, resilience (and regret) in the answers made me realize there’s no going back.
No matter how many RTO mandates there are, parents aren’t going back. So, let’s talk about why.
“How did parents of young children in the “before times” regularly commute into an office 5 days a week
*and*
Spend quality time with their kids outside of working hours?”
As you know, I’m obsessed with this topic, and I think I qualify as a “before times” parent, though I’m still technically in the middle, not “done.”
As a coach, I often try to offer a nuanced perspective on balance that feels more achievable than the traditional 50/50 model and include implementation strategies that work in the real world.
