Productivity Hacks for Working Parents (or Anyone Who Believes in Life Outside of Work)
When it comes to productivity hacks, I rarely lead with them. Unless my clients have a specific struggle, challenge, or need to develop a new skill, I focus more broadly. Why?
Because productivity is rarely the answer.
I’ve found that most women I work with are already solid. They might need an audit, upgrade, or refresher, but their B+ effort is usually more than enough.
The context, however, and the motivation for why you want to be more productive reveals a bigger opportunity.
If you are attempting to…
A.
Improve productivity because you’re under-supported at home and no one will help, or you haven’t found a way to influence others to share the load, and you’re trying to do everything for everybody; it’s unsustainable. Doing more is not the answer.
B.
Improve productivity because you’re under-supported at work and in a role that’s too much for one person, or you’re trying to prove yourself for whatever reason to justify a promotion, validate more compensation, or cover for a colleague; it’s unsustainable. Working harder is not the answer either.
