When There’s No Blueprint: How High Achievers Can Chart Their Own Course
Part 2
Last time, we talked about the struggle of creating your own path without a clear blueprint. Today, let’s talk about how to move forward without getting stuck in over-researching or second-guessing yourself.
In Part 1, we discussed what happens when you have a big vision and have successfully bet on yourself before, but now you’re in uncharted territory. There’s no perfect mentor who has done exactly what you want to do, and so you know you’re second-guessing your next move.
Most people continue searching for external validation that their goal is possible. But it’s a sophisticated form of procrastination at this point. You’ve got to be willing to build your blueprint.
So how do you do it?
1. Define Success (and Know Your Non-Negotiables)
When there’s no model to follow, you must be ruthlessly clear about what you want and what you won’t/can’t compromise on.
Ask yourself:
- What does success look like in my career, business, family, and lifestyle? How will I know I’m making progress? How will I feel throughout the process?
